YOUNG PEOPLE INCREASINGLY IN NEED OF CRITICAL CARE IN LOCAL HOSPITALS DUE TO A NEW SURGE IN COVID 19

Young people are increasingly being admitted to local hospitals as the 5th wave of Covid-19 rages on.
The Director of public health services Dr. Pamela Smith-Lawrence, when giving a covid update last night, said the majority of patients at Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital were under 40 years, and in need of oxygen assistance.
Smith-Lawrence said this could be because vaccine uptake amongst the youth is low. She added that the youth should be encouraged to vaccinate and seek valid information on vaccines. This as some are deterred by false information that is circulating.
