BPF IN-FIGHTING COMES TO A HEAD WITH TSHEKEDI KHAMA NOW SUSPENDED

The power struggle within the Botswana Patriotic Front, appears to be far from over.
This after the suspension of the party’s Secretary General, MP Tshekedi Khama and two other members of the national executive committee, for allegedly attempting to overthrow party President Biggie Butale.
According to a letter published online, Tshekedi wrote to Butale informing him that he is no longer at the helm of the party.
Tshekedi had called on Butale to stop behaving like a BPF President and holding party activities. He reminded Butale of the utterances he allegedly made during the recent NEC meeting to the effect that he was resigning as the party president.
The Serowe Northwest MP said they were surprised to see Butale addressing a BPF meeting in Selibe-Phikwe over the weekend and being recognised as the president of the party.
The BPF leader has now issued his own letter suspending Tshekedi, saying he finds such a conduct as an act of indiscipline, insubordination, and causing divisions within the party.
Tshekedi is suspended pending a final determination by the congress next month.
