GOVERNMENT TO ENGAGE CONSORTIUMS OF YOUNG PEOPLE ON MEGA INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

Written by on

Government has taken a decision to engage consortiums of young people on mega infrastructural projects. The move is intended to upskill and empower young people in the engineering sector as well as graduates from brigades, according to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, Kgomotso Abi. When appearing before the Parliament Public Accounts Committee, Abi said the economic inclusive bill would equip locals to build high quality infrastructure, such as buildings. This after there was some concern among the public that foreign owned companies engaged to construct these mega projects are doing substandard work. Abi further called on local education institutions to produce graduates who are industry ready, to start performing maintenance works in public facilities.
