NGAKAAGAE TO JOIN THE GAOBEREKWE FAMILY LEGAL TEAM IN THE FIGHT FOR THEIR FATHER’S CKGR BURIAL

Prominent lawyer, Kgosietsile Ngakaagae is to join the Gaoberekwe family Legal team to assist in their appeal against a court order, that has instructed the family to bury their father outside the Central Kgalagadi Game Reserve within 10 days.
Ngakaagae says he has had discussions with the lawyer representing the Gaoberekwe family, Nelson Ramaotwana, to marshal resources to assist with an appeal, and a stay of execution of the court order. He says he will further mobilize other lawyers to assist with legal input.
The lawyer says it cannot be Ramaotwana’s work alone to fight the injustices against the Gaoberekwe family and that it should be a joint responsibility of all justice loving citizens.
Ngakaagae says poor people are being abused by the government and then threatened with legal costs.
In his ruling, Gaborone high court judge, Itumeleng Segopolo agreed with state that Pitseng Gaoberekwe was not a beneficiary of the Roy Sesana court case of 2006 and that at the time of his death he was residing in New Xade, outside the CKGR.
He ordered that the deceased be buried within 10 days, failing which his son, Lesiame, will be imprisoned for 30 days.
Ramaotwana however says the Gaoberekwe family has valid arguments in their quest to bury their father in the CKGR.
