SELIBE PHIKWE WEST MP, DITHAPELO KEORAPETSE CALLS FOR 10 MORE CONSTITUENCIES

Member of Parliament for Selebi Phikwe West, Dithapelo Keorapetse has called for the increment of constituencies from 57 to 67. The legislator yesterday in parliament proposed an amendment of a motion by Member of Parliament for Gaborone North, Mpho Balopi which requested the house increase the number of elected members of the national assembly by four, from 57 to 61.Keorapetse instead proposed an increment of members by 10, emphasizing that the large size and geographical locations of some constituencies become a burden to the members of parliament representing them. He was of the view that an increase by four would be inadequate, as more constituencies need to be divided. The house adjourned while the debate on the proposed amendment was still underway.
