President Mokgweetsi Masisi says his government is determined to ramp up production and multiplication of the national herd of cattle from the current 1.5 million to 3.5 million, and for small stock from 1.2 million to 4 million by 2027.![]()

Masisi said this when delivering a keynote address this morning during the arrival of a cβ΅onsignment of 92 breeding cattle and 150 dairy goats from Australia, as well as the launching the Thuo Letlotlo guidelines.![]()

The president said the government is working on override mode towards making Botswana the backbone of quality breeding animals sourced from renowned breeders.![]()

The arrival of today's consignment follows another which arrived last year with 161 breeding cattle from Texas, United States of America.![]()

The Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union president Winston Radikolo says it is critical for the government and unions to reach an agreement when they return to the negotiating table on the 28th of this month to avoid any negative implications which may be brought by a stalemate.![]()

Radikolo was speaking at a press briefing held by the unions yesterday to update its members on the progress of the salary negotiations, as a standoff between government and five cooperating unions, BOSETU, BTU, BOPEU, BONU and BLLAHWU continues over salary increments for the public service workers on the A-D band salary scales.![]()

Radikolo says a repeat of the 2011 mass public service workers' strike would have dire consequences to the economy of the country, as it did back then.
