Lead Hair & Make-Up Artist

What is the role

This is a hands-on creative role, leading a small team who provide Hair & Make-up styling for a variety of fashion models for daily shoots, predominantly in our on-site studio, but also on location when required. A real team player who gets involved in the shoot and ensures that deadlines are met to ensure the shoot runs smoothly.

We are looking for a full-time talented Makeup Artist who will combine their creative and technical expertise and passion to provide a desired visual result whilst researching and ensuring that the looks are in keeping with brand vision and consumer relevance.

What you will do

• Produce consistent, high quality hair and make-up in our state of the art studio daily, within the desired timeframe.
• Maintain professionalism at all times.
• Ability to adapt and change quickly throughout the day to any creative hair and make-up changes
• Occasional requirement to attend lifestyle shoots on location or in studio with the creative team.
• Be highly organised and have good presentation skills.
• Source high quality materials and order them from trusted manufacturers to maintain excellence and keep the inhouse kit fresh and up to date.
• Producing high standard hair and make-up for all shoots, working at a fast pace whilst maintaining quality and keeping on brand.
• Ensure that the standard of junior team members and external freelance artists achieves the required standard
• Communicate with studio and creative manager to get direction on job specification.
• To be able to manage and manipulate hair & make-up on set and correct make-up according to lighting.
• To be able to correct fake tan issues/inconsistencies.
• Proactively develop professional skills and knowledge by participating in training and workshops to learn latest makeup techniques or practicing/building your portfolio in your own time.
• Maintain an ecommerce make-up bible for all models to ensure there is consistency, ensuring this is communicated effectively to any freelance cover.
• Suggest skin/hair care routines to our models if they are regularly turning up with bad/irritated skin or hair.
• Work quickly and accurately under pressure.
• Maintain awareness of health and safety issues and legislation.
• Keep the make-up brushes and make-up area clean and tidy ensuring the relevant hygiene routines and followed before and after a shoot.
• Maintain and encourage a positive ‘can do’ atmosphere in the studios which is conducive to high production levels and excellent quality of work.
• Responsible for booking cover and overflow freelance stylists as well as building the internal team whilst maintaining responsibility for the quality and brand consistency.
• Build and maintain close relationships with all studio team members and members of the wider business.
