Role Overview & Responsibilities

The role

The School of Chemistry are looking to appoint a dynamic, hardworking, and enthusiastic individual to join the School as Deputy Student Administration Manager. This is a key leadership role in a friendly, busy team that covers undergraduate and postgraduate administration with particular focus on PGR and our new PGT programmes starting in September 2023.

What will you be doing?

The role will support the Student Administration Manager with undergraduate student administration, ensuring students receive consistently high-quality administrative support during their studies. The role will involve operational and strategic management of all aspects of student-facing administration associated with the undergraduate and postgraduate annual cycle, initiating new processes to enhance current practice and working closely with colleagues to ensure the School complies with the university quality framework. As part of the student administration leadership team, you will take an active role in supporting team members that you line manage and the wider team on a daily basis. You will also be building networks to share and implement best practise through the Faculty and University Education Administration Forums.

You should apply if

You have demonstratable experience in student administration including initiating and implementing change to processes and/or working practices. Experience of working with students or young people and managing confidential and sensitive information. You thrive on working in a busy, varied environment and have excellent interpersonal communication skills, you enjoy using your advanced organisational skills to deliver a high quality service to students and staff, using your initiative, communication and organisational skills to be an effective and supportive manager.

Excellent negotiating skills in order to influence effectively.
