Role Overview & Responsibilities

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior MLA in Haematology at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

This MLA position is an extended MLA role that incorporates additional responsibilities to support routine work including the use of analysers, specialist sample processing and routine maintenance tasks in Haematology.

The Haematology department is well equipped, including 3 Beckman Coulter DxH900 analysers, 2 ACL TOPs and a Starrsed RS ESR analyser. The clinical Haematology department is internationally renowned as a centre of excellence for chronic blood disorders including chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. The Coagulation department supports a comprehensive haemophilia service and provides a full range of coagulation tests.

Applicants should be educated to ‘A’ level standard in Science or equivalent and be interested in working in a scientific position. Previous experience working as an MLA in a UKAS accredited hospital laboratory in the UK is essential.

The successful candidate will also be expected to join the out of hours rota which currently is a late shift 13:00 - 21:00 on a rotational basis.
