Sommelier
Role Overview & Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Sommelier is responsible for the wine and beverage program development & management, greeting & welcoming guests, and coordinating & overseeing service with the F&B Team.
· Interview, hire and train new bar staff employees in collaboration with the F&B management team.
· Collaborate in creating weekly, and monthly promotions for the wine and bar program with F&B team.
· Splits Inventory for Liquor, Wine, and Beer with Floor Manager
· Splits the Ordering of Liquor, Wine, and Beer with Floor Manager
· Creates and Builds on the existing wine program.
· Ensures Bar is well stocked and cleaned regularly.
· Maintains drink recipe documentation.
· Appropriately delegates to FOH staff and manages the floor when necessary.
· Maintains all bar equipment and supplies (has keg lines flushed bi-yearly).
· Ensures empty kegs are picked up in a timely manner.
· Act as manager on duty and controls the floor when necessary.
Required Knowledge, and Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and sales skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work outside regular business hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Excellent personal hygiene
- Adherence to alcohol handing laws and regulations
- Interest in continuing education
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment· Must be a knowledgeable and accomplished mixologist.
- Must demonstrate excellent multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and high attention to detail.
- Possesses a strong leadership ability.
- Must possess strong knowledge of the food and beverage industry.
- Ability to maintain restraint in stressful situations and deescalates tense interactions.
Education and Experience:
· Sommelier certification
· Bachelors, or Associate degree in food and beverage and hospitality management preferred but not required.
· Minimum of 5 years in the hospitality industry with at least one year being in a managerial role.
