Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Paragon School is looking to appoint a part time permanent Guitar Teacher for approximately five hours per week, term times only from September 2023.

Paragon guitarists are used to learning classical style of playing. We would like this to continue, but that the successful candidate extends to offering lessons in rock guitar. Bass guitar would also be desirable. The role will provide 1:1 lessons to students and a weekly guitar group for more advanced players. The post of the guitar teacher will not start and finish at the practice room door; they will expect to be involved with school events and would be comfortable to accompany groups such as choirs. Working closely with the Director of Music the successful candidate will inject the department with new ideas and share a common philosophy in the importance of instrument learning for young children.

The Paragon is an independent, co-educational day school based in a beautiful Georgian house a mile from the centre of Bath. Catering for more than 250 children aged three to 11, we offer a broad curriculum taught in small classes by teachers with a real passion for their subject. The school comprises Squirrels Pre-School, a Pre-Prep and Prep School. The Paragon is the junior school of Prior Park College and part of the Prior Park Schools family which also includes Prior Park School in Gibraltar

The Schools’ Mission is to steward a thriving family of communities with love for the young people they serve at their heart. These vibrant communities cultivate creativity, foster integrity, and transform lives.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Interviewing 24 May 2023

The School reserves the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made. Applicants are therefore encouraged to apply early.
