Role Overview & Responsibilities

Position: Passenger Assistants

Start Date: ASAP

Job Type: Split shifts 7.30 am - 9.15am & 2.15 - 4.15pm (APPROX)

Working hours: Monday to Friday, school term time only.

Area of work: Thanet area

Job Summary: We are currently looking for Passenger Assistants in the Thanet area.

Home to school escorts are responsible for supervising children in minibuses, to and from (SEN) Special Educational Needs schools across East Kent.

Responsibilities include....

  • ensuring passengers enter and exit the vehicle safely
  • ensuring passengers are wearing a seatbelt
  • monitoring interaction with other passengers
  • assisting with any specific needs of the child(ren)
  • handing over children safely to a responsible adult at school or home
  • liaising transport associated issues with parents/carers, schools and operator

Requirements: PA’s must be able to meet our drivers at our Birchington Depot, a KCC badge or an enhanced dbs for adult and child would be an advantage.

DBS - All applicants must complete an enhanced DBS check (Police check) prior to commencing work at their cost.

Training - Escorts must attend a Passenger Assistant training course prior to commencing.

Qualifications: None needed but experience of working with children with special educational needs would be an advantage.

The applicant must be of a kind and calm nature and have patience. Some experience of working either with children or in the care industry would be advantageous but not essential.

Personal Qualities: The applicant must be of a kind and calm nature, have patience and ability to communicate effectively with parents, school staff and other professionals.
