Role Overview & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Junior QA Engineer (open to all ages subject to experience) to join our dynamic engineering team and make our QA team a trio! We already have 2 experienced QA Engineers and we are looking for someone who has some experience but most of all a drive and passion for testing to join us.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on manual testing experience with an interest in automation. They should be comfortable working with stakeholders and raising questions to understand project requirements.

Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a testing role. We are open to the length and type of experience but please note this is a Junior role.
  • A desire to grow and develop in a testing career
  • A testing mindset
  • Creation or exposure to documentation used in the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Knowledge of testing principles and terminology

Any experience with the below are desirable but not essential:

  • SQL and database testing
  • Automation testing and tools (coded or codeless)
  • Postman, or similar tools for API testing
  • Playwright
  • Jira, or other software development project management tools
  • If you have a testing qualification, then great but it is not required, if you have any courses or research you have done that does not come with a certificate then we’d love to hear about those too!

Knowledge of G Suite applications would also be beneficial, specifically a good grasp of google sheets or excel.

What you’ll be doing

A large amount of our development is on new features so there will be a wide variety of interesting projects you’ll get to work on, the principle responsibilities are:

  • Test new features using various testing approaches, on all parts of the tech stack (Database, API, Website, CMS) - this may include but is not limited to: acceptance, system, integration, compatibility and regression testing.
  • Testing our implementation on supporting third party tools
  • Testing non-engineering projects - such as email communications
  • Raise and retest defects found during the testing phase of the SDLC
  • Triaging bugs raised on live features
  • Troubleshooting issues/questions raised by internal users of the system
  • Utilise testing tools to script and automate regression tests, currently using Playwright for Front end regression and Postman for API regression.
  • Run regression tests, review and determine reasons for failures
  • Review supporting documentation for upcoming projects, raising questions where necessary, and attend relevant project meetings
  • Designing tests
  • Defining and setting up test data
  • Demo new features to Design Lead and Product Owner for sign off when required
  • Assistance in writing User Documentation for internal users
  • Collaborate with other members of the product team to help build an amazing product
