Role Overview & Responsibilities

It’s an exciting time to join WRc, a member of RSK Group, as a Consultant in Water Microbiology as we plan to increase our capacity to meet future needs in this business area. The position is a full-time, permanent basis with a hybridarrangement for both office (Swindon, UK) and home working depending on requirements.

As a Consultant in our water microbiology business area you will be supporting the delivery of project outputs across our three core microbiology workstreams; current & emerging hazards; target identification; and decision-making, which span across our consulting and commercial service offerings.

WRc is part of the RSK Group, a leading integrated environmental, engineering, and technical services business providing dynamic, multidisciplinary services to a wide range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for water microbiology consultancy projects (desk-based)
  • Support Principal Consultant in the delivery of high-quality project outputs
  • Future potential to support new laboratory capability development
  • Support the development of decision-making tools to support our clients
  • Data processing, analysis, and interpretative report writing
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholder

Person Specification

  • BSc or MSc in Environmental Sciences, Microbiology, Environmental Engineering or similar, ideally with modules covering environmental and public health microbiology, sampling, analysis, water treatment and water distribution
  • Experience with planning monitoring programmes in the field and in laboratory settings
  • Demonstrates an understanding of microbiological data and how to interpret the outputs
  • Experience in technical report writing and literature reviews
  • Ability to identify new opportunities in microbiology
  • Ability to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders’
