I am looking for 2 PAs to provide support to my son and to provide respite for me, so that I can spend some time with my other children. My son has a learning disability, Autism and ADHD. He is non-verbal and communicates using Makaton, body language and pointing. He needs 2:1 support. He is mobile independently and can sometimes display challenging behaviour. He likes to go out to places such as Drayton Manor, the Snow Dome, the cinema and to the shops or a park. I would like the PAs to help build his confidence and self-esteem and enable him to be more independent.

Please note the Employer has 2 friendly dogs.

Please note the Employer is allergic to cows milk.

Please note this household smokes outside.

Summary of Duties

Support with:

  • Accessing social and leisure opportunities
  • Developing confidence, self-esteem and independence
  • Personal care
  • Preparing lunch
  • Encouragement to eat

The needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You may be required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to your role.

The Person They Are Looking For

I am looking for PAs who are reliable, understanding and patient. You will also have experience of supporting people with Autism and ADHD and with managing challenging behaviour.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

The Times Required

5 hour block Saturday afternoons. Times to be agreed.

Day may vary in school holidays
