Role Overview & Responsibilities

Ocean Housing are recruiting for a part time (16 hours per week) Grounds Maintenance Operative to work as part of their team to provide grounds maintenance services, responsibilities include to:


  • Provide Grounds Maintenance services and horticultural duties as required across Ocean’s stock including grass cutting, strimming, weeding, maintaining and planting shrubs, trees, plants and other grounds maintenance and gardening tasks

  • Assess site conditions and make decisions on most appropriate work to be undertaken and equipment to be used in accordance with weather conditions and best practice

  • Conduct estate checks when on site, identifying and reporting any issues that may pose a health and safety risk to the public

  • Be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance and daily/routine checks of any plant or machinery provided


Qualifications and Experience


  • Educated to NVQ Level 1 qualification (eg GCSE D-E or CSE level 2-5)) or equivalent and Level 1 qualification (eg GCSE D-E or CSE level 2-5 in English/Literacy) or equivalent

  • Valid Driving Licence

  • Grounds Maintenance experience and ability to carry out a wide range of horticultural tasks

  • A good understanding of health and safety issues and risks in relation to grounds maintenance
