Role Overview & Responsibilities

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our friendly Immunology team, providing technical, scientific and managerial support for the Immunology and Immunodeficiency services.

In collaboration with the Blood Sciences management team the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to the Immunology team, ensuring an efficient and effective analytical laboratory service and contributing to continuous service development.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and well-motivated HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with previous experience in a senior BMS role. The appointee will have excellent communication and personnel skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team, as well having extensive Immunology experience.

The main duties of the job are
  • Provide technical and scientific support for the Immunology and Immunodeficiency services. This encompasses the following areas – Autoimmunity, Allergy, Paraprotein/Specialist Protein, Primary Immune Deficiency as well as the regional FIT screening service.
  • Provide managerial support for all rotational laboratory staff in Immunology, Immunodeficiency, Flow Cytometry and Immunogenetics
  • Working with the Head of service and Blood Sciences management team, provide an efficient and expert Immunology service for North Bristol NHS Trust
You will be working for the largest NHS Trust in the SW Region that provides medical, surgical and maternity care for a population of approximately half a million people in North Bristol and the surrounding community. In 2014 the Trust relocated the majority of its acute services to the Brunel Building, one of the most advanced hospitals in Europe offering exemplary care in a beautiful and purpose built environment.

There has been significant investment in redeveloping laboratory services at Southmead Hospital with a new state of the art Pathology Sciences Laboratory accommodating an integrated multidisciplinary laboratory service. The
