General Production Operative

Role Overview & Responsibilities

This role will be on a rotational shift pattern (days and nights) 12 hour shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Operate machinery to the highest standards so as to maximise production on the lines and achieve targets
• Guarantee the utmost quality of all production as well as the completion of related checks and paperwork
• Accurate and timely set up of machinery during changeovers
• Maintain food factory standards e.g. housekeeping and line clearance of area, through to deep cleaning machines
• Basic maintenance, fault finding and repairs of machinery and equipment
• Become an in-house expert on a particular machine and attain working knowledge of all machines in production
• Improve line efficiencies, make suggestions and play active role in company e.g. H & S, continuous improvements
• Effective handover to the next shift ensuring good communication of performance
• Completion of production related documents and provision of feedback on any issues
• Efficient preparation for the day / shift /change over ahead
• Flexibility to rotate between jobs and shifts should the need arise
• Any other duties and tasks deemed to be within competence and within reason
• Ensuring good manufacturing practice (GMP) in all aspects of work
• Ability to identify and report any non-conformances to Quality Dept / Line Manager
• Working to standard operating procedures
• Carrying out all tasks in a safe and efficient manner
• Adherence to PPE requirements
• Safe use of chemicals

Essential Criteria:

• Experience of operating at least 2 production line machines
• Experience in a similar role in a food manufacturing environment
• Good communication skills
• Excellent organizing and prioritizing skills
• Good numeracy and literacy skills – due to the need for completion of food safety compliance paperwork, good written/spoken/reading English skills are essential

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £25,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
