Role Overview & Responsibilities

Receiving patients on arrival in Reception and answering telephones in a professional and courteous manner.

Organising patient appointments, in person or on the telephone. Arranging hospital appointments when requested to do so and booking ambulances when needed.

Receiving and recording requests for house visits and following the correct practice procedure when organising these visits.

Processing of prescriptions.

Managing incoming mail, including scanning and attaching of letters into patient records.

Implementing the Practices call and re-call systems, liaising with the Practice / Data Administrator to ensure that requirements are being met.

Ensuring that consulting rooms are tidied, aired and adequately supplied as requested by the health care professional.

Opening and locking of premises, following all relevant security procedures.

Receiving messages for GPs and nurses.

Keeping the waiting and reception areas tidy and ensure adequate stocks of stationary, etc.

Liaising with external organisations where necessary, such as Social Services and other agencies.

Attending suitable courses & training, either on site or external, as directed by the Partnership to enhance your skills.

Resolving straightforward job related issues, including locating patient documentation and helping to resolve minor problems.

Any other duty commensurate with the post and as directed by management.

The post holder will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality & data protection at all times.

The post holder will ensure that they are aware of and apply health and safety and fire precautions across the practice.

The post holder will be flexible in terms of working hours in order to provide cover for annual leave and other staff absences.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 24-37.5 per week

Salary: From Β£10.42 per hour
