Role Overview & Responsibilities

Job Purpose

To support the laboratory function by maintain laboratory standards and supporting laboratory activities to ensure that hygiene and quality standards are maintained, and client requirements are met.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Adhere to and endorse the Laboratory Code of Practice at all times.
  • Ensure that laboratory hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
  • Ensure culture media and reagents are prepared according to procedures and all relevant batches are quality controlled prior to use. Maintain stock ensuring there is an adequate supply in line with testing requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory standards in line with business, client and quality requirements.
  • Ensure the laboratory is prepared on a daily basis for testing client samples.
  • Maintain all Media Prep records in accordance with the Quality Policy, ISO 17025 and company standards.
  • Maintain stocks, place purchase orders and check deliveries in line with business requirements.
  • Ensure all quality control checks are carried out on time according to standard procedure.
  • Record and report any deviations or non-conformance and follow the root cause analysis process.
  • Report any Health and Safety issues

Administration

All staff are expected to carry out general administration duties in line with their job. This includes:

  • Answering the telephone, taking and relaying messages as necessary
  • Computer input
  • Generation of Data
  • General office duties including filing, photocopying, scanning etc.
  • Maintaining quality procedures in line with ISO 17025:2005 (including recording NCR’s)
  • Any other administration needs required to support the job
  • Post as applicable

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 25-27.5 per week

Salary: From £18,525.00 per year
