Role Overview & Responsibilities

Maintenance Assistant


Covering but not limited to the following tasks:- Basic plumbing repairs/leaks, replacing toilet seats, basic frontline fixes, patch repairs, minor plumbing and carpentry, painting and decorating, general DIY (locks, hinges etc. Oiling), checks on roads/paths, receiving deliveries/orders, checking gulley's & drains, escorting visitors/contractors around site, ladder checks, basic plant checks, 2nd man (working at height) duties, Fire alarm testing, sprinkler system testing, meter readings. You will be expected to complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time, keeping logs of inspections reports and remedial work. Out of Hours call out ( On call ) approx. 1 week in 3 ( subject to satisfactory probationary period )


  • Ensuring the timely delivery of general building and fabric maintenance ·
  • Ensure that service delivery meets the requirements of performance targets, KPIs and Health & Safety ·
  • Support for all general handyman duties for 2-man working and absence cover ·
  • Undertake minor works / alterations. ·
  • Ensuring equipment is kept clean, in working order and sent for repair where necessary.
  • Experience within a Maintenance / Facilities Management environment.
  • Relevant qualifications required e.g., C&G or equivalent or a trade related qualification.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Permit to Work procedures and Safe Systems of Working.
  • Capability to perform manual tasks, including manual handling, working at heights and in confined spaces as well as a willingness to participate in the On-Call Rota.
  • Good verbal and written communication is important, including the ability to use a mobile device.
  • You'll need to be highly self-motivated, and solutions focussed with the ability to work without supervision but also enjoy working as part of a team.

  • Previous experience of working in a similar environment
  • Willingness to undertake training
  • Must be literate, understand health & safety working practices and the need to provide Clients with a safe working environment
  • Strong customer focus, a desire to deliver a quality service.
  • Must be able to respond appropriately to the needs of the Client in a professional manner
  • Reliable, punctual, self-motivated
  • Must demonstrate high personal standards of hygiene & Cleanliness
  • An ability to work in a team environment working together to develop & continually improve the service
