Salary: £37,261- £39,493

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contractual Status:Permanent

Can you ’hit the ground running’? Do you thrive on working in a fast paced, constantly changing environment? Can you positively contribute to developing innovative new ways of working? If the answer to these questions is yes, then we would love to hear from you.

We are seeking someone who is driven and enthusiastic to join our existing experienced Finance Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and motivated individual wishing to further their career in accountancy.

You will report to one of our Finance Business Partners, carrying out, and/or leading on, a variety of tasks providing support across the Council Directorates, including revenue and capital budget monitoring, budget setting, closure of accounts, completion of statutory Government returns, and processing of grant claims. You will also supervise junior members of the team.

You will be as comfortable working with, and communicating appropriately with, budget managers and non-finance staff, as you are with fellow finance staff, and will be skilled in building successful working relationships and providing appropriate challenge when needed.

Although working in Finance, you will be working closely with operational staff within Council Directorates, so there is plenty of opportunity for getting out of the office and getting a feel for the services behind the figures.

This role provides an excellent platform to build on your existing skills, whilst developing your knowledge and experience across the full spectrum of Council budgets. Enhanced opportunities to supplement day to day duties with project work will be available for the right candidate.

What we can offer you:

Modern, state of the art office accommodation

Blended working, with the opportunity to split the working week between the office and home

Generous holiday entitlement

Flexible working hours

Excellent Pension Scheme

Employee Assistance Scheme

Staff Benefits scheme

Access to Electric Car Leasing scheme

Our corporate values are a critical element of our strategy to create a brighter future for Middlesbrough and are at the heart of everything we do.

The successful candidate will be expected to be familiar with our values and how they would be reflected in their work.
