Role Overview & Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Science and Analytics Manager to join our Strategic Growth Analytics team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in data science and analytics, with fluency in python and SQL (required), and with a strong focus on consumer product goods (CPG), retail, or fast-moving consumable goods (FMCG) industries. This role will be responsible for leading the analysis and development of data-driven insights to improve in-store consumer journeys and sales for our brands.


What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a complex environment, of which 3+ years around business - and market intelligence preferred (e.g., data science, data engineering, BI / analytics.)
  • Consumer packaged goods (CPG) and/or retail experience strongly preferred.
  • Business fluency in English (written & verbal.)
  • Fluent in python and knowledge of SQL, with proven experience in statistical analysis and deploying machine learning models.
  • Proven track record of deploying operational teams and capabilities to drive analytics tools/methodologies in a commercial business environment
  • Combining a strong eye for detail and ability of conceptual, strategic thinking
  • Good project management skills - ability to plan & prioritize
  • Proven track record in a role that required building strong cross–functional relationships and the ability to influence senior leaders
  • Ability to set own goals and effectively deliver on them while planning and executing on multiple projects simultaneously in an organized fashion.
  • Knowledge of database marketing principles and database structure
  • Significant experience working with and influencing stakeholders at various levels, as well as team members in very different roles (e.g., sales, marketing, etc.).
  • Experience in data engineering a plus (Azure, Databricks, etc.)

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • You are responsible for the end-to-end embedment of Mars’ signature process, Perfect Store
  • Whilst partnering both cross-functionally and globally, you will conduct analyses that regularly identify and prioritize opportunities and risks.
  • You will possess the necessary leadership skills to direct working sessions among all levels of associates up to and including the C-suite that embed tools and behaviours to drive strategic growth.
  • You will provide each market with scorecards which include clear metrics and targets.
  • You will manage the resources, systems and capabilities required in partnership with marketing and insights leaders to establish and monitor KPIs to ensure plans are met.
  • You will develop a highly ambitious yet practical strategy for pushing the boundaries of what's possible today.
  • You can articulate the business results to a less savvy business partner in a language that they will understand
  • You have some experience in data engineering (either in building or maintaining pipelines)
  • You may be responsible for working with and managing 3rd party consulting organizations and external vendors as required.
  • This role will deliver statistical analysis and machine modelling to the overall Mars Demand teams, ensures the robustness of our Signature Tools, and delivers data-driven insights for analytics projects for Mars Horizon.
  • A strong candidate will be fluent in python and SQL (required) and be able to update and create modelling techniques to accelerate business performance.
