Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Department of Sociology is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated Administrative Assistant to join a vibrant professional services team and you will join us on a full-time, indefinite contract.

The Sociology Department is home to the three distinct subject areas organised into specialist teaching teams: Social Work, Sociology, Media & Cultural Studies, and in addition has a partnership agreement with the Frontline Organisation.

As a member of the team, you will work closely with the Departmental Officer to provide administrative assistance to departmental academic and professional services teams.

Embracing teamwork, you will demonstrate attention to detail, good communication and professionalism, excellent interpersonal and IT literacy skills, and have customer or student facing experience. Experience of student facing or customer records systems are an advantage or you will have the ability to accurately input information and maintain electronic records.

This opportunity is suitable for applicants who wish to work in a busy and varied department, acting as a first point of contact, you will assist with many aspects of the day-to-day running of the department, including events.

A secondment opportunity will be considered for internal candidates, please discuss this with your line manager before applying.
