Role Overview & Responsibilities

Keynvor Morlift (KML) is a Falmouth-based international Marine Contractor.

We are specialists in shoreline, coastal and offshore marine services and operations, with a wealth of experience ranging from marine renewable energy construction projects to project cargo, marine civil engineering, salvage operations and many more offshore and specialist marine services.

Job Title: Deckhand/AB – Research Vessel, Orkney Isles.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deckhand/AB to join our ‘Research Vessel’ which plays a key role in KML’s salvage projects and survey works. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled team currently engaged on an interesting project, in one of the most beautiful and remote parts of the UK.

Reporting to the Deck Forman / Mate you will:

  • Operate and maintain deck machinery, including winches, cranes, and other project equipment
  • Ensuring that all equipment is in good working order, and all safety equipment is properly stowed and maintained.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning duties, including painting, chipping, and cleaning decks, holds, and compartments.
  • Assist in mooring and unmooring the vessel, and ensure that all lines and mooring equipment are properly stowed.
  • Participate in drills and training exercises to maintain readiness for emergency situations
  • Assist in the deployment and recovery of ROVs and other survey equipment (an advantage)
  • Be clean and organised and contribute to the domestic cleanliness of the vessel

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Deckhand/AB on a workboat.
  • Keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team - communicating clearly and effectively with other crew members and supervisors.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting heavy objects and working in all types of weather conditions.
  • Valid STCW endorsements, including Basic Safety Training, Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats, and Medical First Aid.
  • ENG1
  • EDH, Powerboat 2, Slinger/Signaller, Knuckle Boom Crane Operator tickets - an advantage
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Easy to get along with and the ability to perform well under pressure
  • 2 x References from previous employers
