Role Overview & Responsibilities

Job Details:

Pay Rate is £9.99 per hour initially, however this will increase at the start of April 2023. (£14.99 for overtime weekdays/weekdays & £19.98 for bank holidays)

Working hours: 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday

The post holder will work as part of a team, or as an individual to assist in delivering a quality environmental cleansing maintenance, horticultural and grounds maintenance service across the borough.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly across other services as and when requested e.g. waste, highways etc. to support service delivery needs. Appropriate levels of training will be provided in line with the work being undertaken.

What we are looking for...

• Knowledge and experience of environmental cleansing,horticultural or grounds maintenance work
• Experience in the operation of using powered tools, plant and equipment
• Experience of manual working in an outdoor environment
• Understanding of Health and Safety requirements
• Understanding of environmental issues
• Working in an environment where literacy and numeracy skills have been demonstrated

Full driving licence capable of driving vehicles of 3.5 tonnes, towing trailers (desirable).

Key roles and responsibilites:

Key Duties/Areas of Responsibility

• Carry out environmental cleansing, horticultural and grounds maintenance work
• Operate, secure and check powered tools, plant and equipment, recognising and reporting defects and maintenance issues.
• Ensure the security of vehicles, buildings and resources within own control, including carrying out vehicle checks.
• Provide directions and general assistance to the public.
• Report accident or damage to property, street defects, and assist on enviro-crime enforcement operations.
• Assist with the delivery of campaigns, events and initiatives.
• Direct trainees, seasonal employees or volunteers assisting.
• Complete daily and weekly record sheets and forms.
• Work at all times in accordance with safe systems of work , Health and safety guidelines, policies and procedures
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with relevant timescales and standards

Job Type: Temp to perm
Contract length: 12 weeks

Salary: £9.99-£10.42 per hour
