Job summary

Operative - Recycling & Abattoir/Animal ByProducts (ABP)

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-confident and highly motivated person to join our Abattoir and Knackers yard team. This person will be trained to become a fully qualified Slaughterman.

Ideally, candidates will have had experience in Slaughterman processes, in a Butchery role or dealing with Animals but full training will be provided. Applicants must have excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to be diplomatic and tactful, along with the ability to maintain the highest standards at both our Abattoir and Knackers yard sites.

The successful applicant will need to be physically fit as you may need to lift up to 25kg at times, and you will be required to direct large Animals through our processes. A full clean and current Medium Goods driving Licence (C1) is required with the ability to be able to learn to drive a forklift.

This role involves working in all weathers and being on your feet for the majority of the day in sometimes unpleasant conditions.

The Job role is very specialised and Animal welfare, along with the humane treatment of Animals is always our utmost priority during any process being carried out.

If you think you fit this criteria, please do not hesitate to contact Dave Bradley, Assistant Manager Abattoir & ABP on Tel; 448528 or email D.Bradley@gov.je to find out more.

The post is now live on Gov.je portal under Jobs available section and we look forward to welcoming the successful candidate into our team.
