Role Overview & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supplier selection and annual contract negotiation.
  • Ensure components /materials are supplied to satisfy manufacturing.
  • Supplier development. SRM (Supplier Relationship Management)
  • Identify potential ways to reduce costs. VFM (Value for Money)
  • Cross functional support to other departments e.g Design, Marketing, Finance, Planning, Distribution and Engineering.
  • Management and support for both/and or Direct or Indirect purchases over £1000.
  • Supplier visits and assessments, UK and overseas (as and when required).
  • Reduce material lead times.
  • Effective application and administration of processes to achieve the above duties.
  • Deliver VA/VE savings. ( Value Added/Value Engineering)
  • Deliver PPV (Purchase Price Variations ) savings in line with annual targets.
  • Supplier rationalisation. SRM (Supply Relationship Management)
  • Maintain commodity price tracker.
  • Support Purchasing Director in specific projects as required.
  • Comply with Health and Safety responsibilities as defined in the company health and safety policy and ensure these are adequately delegated in the absence of the job holder.
  • and any other duties required to assist in supporting the achievement of Company objectives

Person Profile:

  • Team Player
  • Ability to manage seasonal work pressures and demands and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Organised and self-motivated.
  • Positive,” can-do attitude”.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Professional approach. CIPS qualified an advantage.
  • Ability to establish relationships with supplier base.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Basic understanding of contract law.

Educationand/or Experience

  • Graduate /HND level
  • Ideally CIPS qualified.
  • SAP Experience.
  • 3-5 years direct purchasing experience.
  • Background in fast moving/high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience in International sourcing.
  • VA/VE skills.
  • Track record of achieving cost reductions.
  • Product knowledge e.g., packaging, rubber mouldings, fastenings, plastic materials.
