Gateshead Council are a Further Education provider who deliver quality courses to adults and young people across Gateshead. We are currently recruiting Casual Adult Education Tutors to be employed on a flexible and sessional basis. We require tutors in the following subjects who can teach from beginners to level 2 at sites across Gateshead:

Arts and Crafts

Music and Performing Arts – including ukulele and/or guitar

Photography and Digital Art

Modern Languages

Creative writing including journalism, story writing, poetry or screenwriting

Comic/Cartoon Art

Animation, web development and coding

Entrepreneurship

English, Maths and ICT



You will have a knowledge of the delivery of high-quality teaching of adults; meeting the Education Inspection Framework and quality standards relating to learning in both formal and non-formal settings.


You will have knowledge of and an understanding of Equal Opportunities policies and procedures and methods of widening participation in community learning. You will also have a knowledge of embedding safeguarding and Prevent policies and procedures into teaching delivery.

You must also have, or working towards, a teaching qualification at level 4 or above that is approved by Lifelong Learning UK as well as a qualification above the level to be taught in the subject specialism; GCSE Maths and English grade A-C or equivalent.

You will have experience of improving quality of learning and delivering and assessing accredited and/or non-accredited courses; experience of planning, writing, delivering and evaluating training sessions for accredited and non-accredited programmes; effectively review, monitor and offer guidance and support to young people and adults; working on own initiative, organising and prioritising your own work.

It is essential that you have effective use of ICT within a learning environment and the ability to work flexibly.
