Role Overview & Responsibilities

Our team of hundreds of skilled experts keep Formula 1 moving. You could play a vital part as a Audio Engineer to ensure Formula 1’s broadcast audio is acquired, mixed and engineered to the highest level along with maintain talkback both at Formula 1 venues and the Remote Technical Centre at Biggin Hill, UK.
Reporting into the Engineering Manager - Audio, you will:
  • Install, commission, maintain and operate F1’s inventory of audio and talkback equipment both at the Remote Technical Centre (Biggin Hill, UK) and at Grand Prix events.
  • Together with the Media Engineering team and working closely with other departments, design & upgrade F1’s audio and talkback engineering infrastructure, both at the Remote Technical Centre (Biggin Hill, UK) and at Grand Prix events in order to continue to meet F1’s current and future broadcast requirements.
  • Have a keen interest in future audio technologies and assist senior engineers with the design and implementation of projects.
  • Provide engineering support during F1 events either at the Remote Technical Centre, Biggin Hill, UK or the Event Technical Centre, circuit.
Specification:
  • Proven record of delivering high quality audio and comms under the pressures of a broadcast operation, either as a sound guarantee or mixer.
  • Essential experience within a live broadcast engineering team.
  • Experience with Riedel talkback systems.
  • Experience with LAWO mixing desks and other devices such as Mic8, Power core, A_UHD core or equivalent tech by other manufacturers.
  • Excellent understanding of AES67, SMPTE 2110-30 and 2110-31
  • A high degree of computer literacy
  • Knowledge of traditional and emerging broadcast audio technologies, infrastructures, operations, equipment, and systems engineering
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to multitask & work under pressure
  • Excellent time management
  • Logical, with attention to detail and an ability to see the bigger picture
  • Willing and able to travel internationally
  • Full UK/EU Driving License
