Role Overview & Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Kitchen Porter. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen, ensuring a smooth operation and high standards of hygiene. Your primary responsibility will be to support the kitchen staff and chefs by cleaning dishes, utensils, and equipment, as well as keeping the kitchen and food preparation areas tidy. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, excellent time management skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Wash, sanitize, and stack dishes, utensils, and glassware in a timely manner
  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and washing ingredients
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, fryers, and other appliances
  • Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, countertops, and food preparation areas
  • Empty and clean trash bins, ensuring proper disposal of waste and recycling
  • Restock kitchen supplies and ingredients as needed
  • Support the kitchen staff with any additional tasks or duties, such as fetching ingredients or assisting in food plating
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals
  • Report any maintenance or equipment issues to the kitchen manager or supervisor promptly

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a similar role is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Ability to work well in a team and take direction from superiors
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene practices
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Β£12.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Salford: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
