Cpl Life Sciences are partnering with one of the foremost universities in Britain recruiting for a Laboratory Technician. The main purpose of the successful candidate will be to provide technical support for the Medical Physics & Biomedical Engineering undergraduate teaching laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up equipment for teaching sessions and store it away afterwards as necessary.
- Prepare new materials and construct equipment for teaching sessions.
- Deliver help and advice to all students in the laboratories of the Department.
- The post holder will also be responsible for the set-ups and clean-ups of teaching sessions, stock checks after classes as directed by the Laboratory Manager or academic staff.
- Instruct students on good laboratory and workshop practice, especially the safe operation of experimental equipment.
- To implement procedures for testing and maintenance to ensure equipment is kept in working order, and to provide solutions in the event of equipment failure
- Organise and prioritise the workload in consultation with the laboratory manager.
- Report any problems to the laboratory manager and be proactive in solving them.
- Maintain stock and materials by monitoring levels and ordering replacements.
- Help ensure the teaching laboratory is run in accordance with the established client Health and Safety guidelines.
- Minimum of BTEC Higher National Diploma (or equivalent) in engineering or related discipline, with extensive experience working in a laboratory environment or equivalent experience
- Experience of working in a laboratory or workshop environment
- Degree qualification in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline is desired
