Role Overview & Responsibilities

Job Description:

The job role requires an experience mechanical production engineer, who will be responsible for the introduction of both Prototype & Production engine parts, manufactured on time, quality & cost.


Candidates should have previously worked in Automotive or Aerospace industries, machining complex engine components & ideally have an interest in high performance engines.

The Role:

  • New part introduction for both Prototype & Production engines/components.
  • Design/develop new production methods/jigs/fixtures to support the NPI process.
  • Producing CNC programs on 3, 4 & 5 axis plus Turn-mill machines, using Siemens NX (V12) & Vericut verification methods.
  • Manage the effective release of new products into production, on time & to target cost.
  • Design/develop and implement new cutting technologies to improve existing production methods/machine cycle times, whilst reducing tooling cost per part.
  • Liaise with design departments to support an effective DFM process.
  • Work with all departments for the successful transition of new products from design through to production, including short lead time prototypes.
  • Produce and maintain process & test Instructions for all product builds.
  • Assist with the implementation of staff training programs.
  • Manage & report on project/part cost containments.
  • Estimate accurate production times & costs.
  • Establishing key relationships across the business & supply chain to develop Subcontract processes in support of manufactured products.
  • Checking BOM’s for structure & content.
  • Work with supply chain on potential cost reduction programs.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.


Candidate Profile:


  • Minimum 5 years machining experience on complex (automotive or aerospace) components.
  • Achieved a relevant engineering qualification (Degree or minimum HNC)
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years’ experience on CAD/CAM systems (NX12 or equivalent).
  • Experienced in the use of Vericut (9) simulation & SAP ERP systems.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of the latest machining and inspection techniques.
  • Demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Strong planning and organization skills, embracing change.
  • Have a flexible approach with working hours to support the latest project.
