Role Overview & Responsibilities

Who says Chefs can’t work decent hours and have a flexible schedule? We think they can.

The Old Bicycle Shop is looking for a Chef de partie or two to join the team.

  • Flexible schedule that works for you
  • Pay starting at £12 per hour, plus tips and monthly sales bonus

In 2013, a much-loved Cambridge institution closed its doors after 173 years’ trading. Howes Cycles claimed to be the oldest bicycle shop in the country and rumour has it that Charles Darwin, famed for his ‘Theory of Evolution’, bought a bike from this shop in the 1800s. Fast forward a century or two and you’ll now find this quaint old building has a new lease of life – as a restaurant & bar, with a quirky interior designed to celebrate the heritage of the original shop. Open all day for brunch, lunch and dinner, The Old Bicycle Shop provides a unique setting for all sorts of occasions, from a quick coffee and brunch to a special dinner with friends. We take pride in serving fresh, locally-sourced food for all tastes, with a particular reputation for our vegetarian & vegan offerings, albeit there’s plenty on the menu for meat & fish lovers too!

What's in it for you as a Chef de Partie at The Old Bicycle Shop:

  • 50% off food, drinks, and accommodation across all CPG sites
  • Wagestream (a money management and financial wellbeing app that gives you power over and early access to your pay)
  • A career and the path to develop into Management if you want it
  • An extra day’s holiday for your birthday
  • Free meals on shift
  • Product tastings
  • Apprenticeship schemes
  • Staff parties
  • Learning & development
  • And more!

About you, our next Chef de Partie:

  • Enthusiastic and experienced chef
  • Takes pride in what you do
  • Ready for a new challenge
  • Good communicator

  • Preparing high quality food for customers quickly and efficiently
  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen

  • Restocking kitchen supplies and setting up cooking equipment as necessary
