Junior Software Developer

Cairn Solutions are an independent IT design and support services business based in Paisley, servicing clients throughout Scotland. Our business is growing and we are on the look out for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Software Developer.

Ideally you will have a degree in software engineering, computer science or a related subject. Beyond that we need you to have a good working knowledge of basic programming languages, the ability to learn new technology quickly, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. A thirst for learning is also necessary.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Assisting the development manager with all aspects of software design and coding.
• Attending and contributing to company development meetings.
• Learning the codebase and improving your coding skills.
• Writing and maintaining code.
• Working on minor bug fixes.
• Working closely with the Support Team to aid in troubleshooting

Desired skills and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science or related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Basic programming experience.
• Knowledge of basic coding languages, preferably including Python, PHP and C#.
• Knowledge of databases and operating systems.
• Knowledge of Web Technologies preferably including HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with version control concepts
• Detail-oriented.
• Good Problem-solving skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £21,000.00 per year
