Care Assistant (Day/Night)

Role Overview & Responsibilities

Birkdale Village Care Home is a residential home for the over 60s with a 20 bed capacity that has been established for over 25 years.

The priority is for residents to feel supported and to create a happy and homely environment, thus the care home maintains an open door policy for residents’ friends and families.

All our rooms are furnished, 12 are en-suite, and we have a cosy lounge and dining area. There is also a nurse call bell system located throughout the home.

Due to the smaller size of the home we believe our carers can build closer relationships with our residents and cater for their needs on a more personal level.

Job description

As a senior carer you will support the running of the shift and show care and compassion to our residents and their families. You will help to promote independence and dignity, respect and choice for the individuals in our care.

You will have:

• A minimum of NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
• Experience of working in a health and social care setting
• Team leading experience
• Positive attitude and an effective team player
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Provide emergency cover
• Show empathy and compassion for residents and their families
• 36 hours minimum offered (12 hour shifts, including 1 hour break unpaid)

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £10.50 per hour
