Role Overview & Responsibilities

ROLE ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

LOCATION NORTHAMPTON

SALARY £28K - £32K (Pro-rata if part-time)

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant eager to learn and develop to join our Finance department based in Northampton. We would consider part-time applicants for this role.

Reporting to the Finance Manager you will provide accounting and analytical support as well as maintaining accurate record keeping and procedures to assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and other management information.

The Responsibilities of the job are varied and include

· Quarterly VAT return

· Monthly National Statistics forms

· Monthly balance sheet reconciliations

· Maintenance of fixed asset register

· Take overall responsibility for procedures/control of the bank accounts

· Monthly management account duties to include:

o Accruals and prepayments

o Fixed asset postings

o Revenue review

o Payroll postings

· Resolve specific accounting queries as they arise

· Understand the roles of Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger and provide cover in their absence

· Assist Finance Manager with documenting and improving/implementing control procedures where required.

· Assist Finance Manager with any other accounting requirements arising.

Key Skills required

• AAT qualified
• Computer literate, must be competent with Excel
• Attention to detail
• Ability to develop positive working relationships
• Good communication skills – both written and verbal
• Deadline-orientated and an ability to stick to time constraints

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
