Role Overview & Responsibilities

Acorn is currently recruiting on behalf of a global client who are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager for their facilities based in Cardiff.

We are seeking an experienced manager to manage our commercial and workshop operations which can be split between Heavy plant, Installations and HGVs.

You will lead a team including HGV/plant fitters, welders & fabricators etc. The successful candidate will work closely with the operational directors. You will be communicating with suppliers and customers.

You will be a motivated person with great attention to detail, an experienced engineer with experience of working within a busy sector. You will have excellent communication, inter-personal and organisatio nal skills, you will have a great understanding & experience of engineering principals,electrical systems & engineering, design, fabrication, mig & tig welding etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate the workshop staff
  • Managing and monitoring staff workload & performance, determining priorities, cost control
  • Recruitment, retention, and training of workshop staff
  • To ensure plant equipment are serviced and inspected in accordance with planned maintenance schedules and statutory requirements.
  • Evaluation of breakdowns
  • Reporting at management meetings
  • Planning and purchase of parts, materials
  • To provide support to other colleagues as required.

Experience:

  • Experience in a Commercial Workshop Management environment
  • Managing maintenance for a large fleet of plant/transport
  • A good knowledge of H&S / SHEQ legislation, practice and procedures
  • Health & Safety at Work Regulations
  • IT Competent including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Risk Assessments/ Method Statements
  • Full clean driving licence
