Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a member of our Clinical Trials Specimen Management team, you will be responsible for the handling of clinical trials specimens and their associated data. You will be managing human biological specimens and performing data entry in a laboratory environment (appropriate PPE and H&S training will be provided). Accuracy, attention to detail, flexibility and a willingness to learn are essential to ensuring that we provide a high level of service to our internal and external clients. All processes will be performed in line with SOPs and appropriate regulatory guidelines and training will be provided.

STATUS: Full Time (other working patterns will be considered)

LOCATION: York -Onsite

DEPARTMENT: Clinical Trials Sample Management

SCHEDULE: Tuesday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • GCSE's grade C and above is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Good IT literacy and data entry skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receipt. Quality checking and onward processing of biological samples. Opening packages, sorting specimens, performing quality checks of sample tubes and associated paperwork, processing specimens for subsequent testing, storage or onward shipping
  • Data entry. Entering data into our IT systems and LIMS including raising action items to highlight discrepancies
  • Specimen storage and tracking. Maintaining full and accurate inventory and tracking records for specimens stored under varying temperature conditions including dry ice (-80°C) and liquid nitrogen (-196°C).
