Abattoir Operative

Role Overview & Responsibilities

We at ABP York are looking for new members to join our Abattoir team.

You will be given the opportunity to upskill and learn multiple roles within the abattoir.

• Shackling
• Sticking & bleeding
• Rodding
• Head removal, tongue removal
• Legging
• Flanking
• Hide removal
• Evisceration & removal of red offal
• Saw / splitting of carcase
• Removal of all S.R.M.
• Trimming (four stages) to management specification
• Adhere to Company Hygiene practices & safe food production.
• To comply with Health & Safety rules, to prevent / minimise the risk of accidents
• To be a valued member of the slaughter team and have consideration for all colleagues in the plant.
• To participate in training, in accordance with your personal training plan
• Attend appropriate team meetings as required by the manager
• Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar type of role and be suited to working in a fast paced environment. The candidate should have good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
