President Mokgweetsi Masisi will on Monday afternoon deliver the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) since the outbreak of COVID19 in the country. The speech will be delivered virtually to observe the COVID19 protocols. Just like last year, the COVID19 pandemic is expected to be one of the key highlights of President Masisi’s address. Last year’s address covered the COVID19 Response Plan and the challenges which were encountered in implementing the initiatives.
On this coming Monday’s SONA, the first citizen is expected to touch on the progress of the Economic Recovery and Transformation Plan (ERTP) as the country makes an effort to recover from the negative effects of COVID19.
The ERTP was approved by Parliament a year ago, and government allocated P14.5 billion for its implementation. The funds are to be spread over the remaining years of the National Development Plan 11.
