Scientific advisor of the covid 19 task force team Dr. Mogomotsi Matshaba says the country has seen an increase in covid 19 cases with new cases rising sharply to 575, up from 151 in the last week. The greater Gaborone and Maun zones have worsened, with the two zones currently having the highest caseload in the country.
Speaking during the covid19 update last night, Dr. Matshaba said the greater Gaborone zone has changed back to white from red on the colour indicator map, showing the highest burden of disease. Matshaba also said that they are keeping a close eye on the Kgalagadi zone because its caseload has also increased in the last couple of days.
The country has registered between 140 and 150 cases a day, a sharp increase from the previous update, although Matshaba said that this increase was expected. This rise comes a few weeks after the Independence holidays.Botswana has recorded a total of 184 051 local cases of Covid 19.
