FORMER OPPOSITION LEADER MICHAEL DINGAKE CALLS FOR THE DIRECT ELECTION OF THE PRESIDENT

Former leader of opposition in parliament, Michael Dingake has called for the direct election of the president.This as calls for the comprehensive review of the country’s constitution gain momentum. BOCONGO yesterday became the latest body to discuss key issues that various stakeholders would like to have included in the review of the constitution.
Dingake told participants at the workshop, that a number of countries in the world have presidential elections. He added that this would enhance democracy.
Meanwhile, former cabinet minister, David Magang also said there is a need for the constitution to be reviewed to allow for the direct election of the president and also include their running mates in the lead up to elections.
