President Mokgweetsi Masisi, says the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Mission in Mozambique (SMIM) is a significant milestone towards addressing some of the obstacles to the organisation’s aspirations of achieving regional integration and socio-economic development.Speaking this morning in Pemba in Mozambique’s northern province of Cabo Delgado where he officially launched the mission for regional support to Mozambique, to combat the threats of terrorism in the region, he said its significance is further amplified by the fact that it is the first major peace keeping mission successfully planned and executed by SADC. President Masisi also paid tribute to the late Corporal Jacob Ramagonono of the Botswana Defence Force who died in Mozambique last week in what was reportedly an accident involving a motor vehicle. Ramagonono was part of the BDF contingent which formed the SADC Standby Force deployed in Mozambique at the end of last month.
