The Deputy Coordinator of the Covid-19 Task Force team, Professor Mosepele Mosepele, has said it will take longer for the country to recover from active cases that rise above 3000. This as COVID-19 active cases in the country soar to 3766, from 3730 while the death toll also steadily rises to 940 from 926.
Mosepele said sometimes the rise in reported Covid-19 numbers can be linked to weekend activities, adding that sometimes contact tracing is not done enough on weekends. He therefore urged the public to reduce social visits and non essential travel. He further called on the public to refrain from prolonged events and desist from eating at these events.
The country’s total local COVID-19 cases have gone up to 63,247 with 58 541 recoveries. While 23,080 people have received their second jabs of COVID-19 vaccines across the country.
