POLICE RECORD OVER 4 000 CASES OF GBV SINCE THE ONSET OF COVID19

Over four thousand cases of gender base violence have been reported to the police since the advent of the COVID19 pandemic in Botswana.
This was said by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Dr Temba Mmusi when officially opening a workshop on National Consultation on GBV this morning in Gaborone.
The Permanent Secretary said of this number, more than three thousand of these cases have not been brought before courts of law, for various reasons such as suspects being at large and the public prosecution team still assess the case.
