Jwaneng Town Council is bracing for a possible increase in need for psycho social support services, following the abrupt cancellation of a Majwe mining contract by Debswana recently.
The Chief Social and Community Development Officer, Letang Mbaakanyi said the department will be hands on in offering counselling on a case by case basis, depending on how a client may be affected.
She said the anticipated challenges in their line of work include how the miners may be handling a change in income and lifestyle, as well as family issues among others.
Mbaakanyi added that the need for psychosocial support and counselling will not only affect Jwaneng, but will impact the rest of the country, as workers come from all around Botswana.
