MOKGETHI ASSURES PARLIAMENT THAT GOVERNMENT IS COMMITTED TO FORMING GENDER BASED INTER-MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE

The minister of Gender affairs Annah Mokgethi has assured parliament that the delay in the set up of the inter-ministerial committee on gender based violence is caused by due diligence processes noting that there is progress it’s set up. This after some members of Parliament expressed concern over the slow progress by the Ministry of Immigration Nationality and Gender Affairs in Forming the Inter-ministerial committee.
When responding to a question to why I he set up of the GBV committee was taking long, Minister Mokgethi said so far terms of reference have been suggested as to how to form the committee.
The members of parliament lamenting the slow pace of the GBV committee included the Leader of Opposition, Dumelang Saleshando, Dr.
Never Tshabang of Nkange and the MP for Sefhare Ramokgonami Dr. Kesitegilwe Gobotswang. Saleshando for his part questioned the commitment of the government in the fight against GBV. Mokgethi responded by saying the government is seeking to do their due diligence in the forming of the committee.
