UDC RACES AGAINST TIME IN A DESPERATE BID TO RAISE 500 THOUSAND PULA TO PAY SHERIFFS OVER FAILED LEGAL PETITIONS

The main opposition, Umbrella for Democratic Change, is racing against time to ward of sheriffs who are ready to attach properties of its members, who were disputing the 2019 elections results. UDC Treasurer, Dennis Alexander yesterday told the media that the party has to raise an amount of more than 500 thousand pula to pay legal fees, in what seems to be an aberration of democracy for daring to challenge and losing their election rigging case on a technicality. UDC members approached the courts and challenged the results of 15 constituencies and lost all the cases.
The Treasurer said UDC will embark on a fund raising exercise to get funds to pay off the legal fees. Meanwhile, UDC Communications Manager, Moeti Mohwasa says although the summons was served to the individual petitioners, the UDC leadership decided to step in and assist with fund raising.
