Greater Gaborone traffic police have urged road users in the area to be cautious and take note of changes made to traffic lights in a bid to avoid causing road accidents at intersections.Regional traffic officer south central, Reginald Matlhaba said many of the traffic signals are under maintenance, as part of the Botswana Integrated transport Project.
Matlhaba said many traffic lights have changed how they operate adding that some road users however still use the traffic lights in the manner that they used to operate.
Matlhaba said that the traffic lights are adjusted from time to time, and road users should pay attention to how they direct traffic, and not assume their function from past experience. The project which is co-funded by Government and the World bank at the tune of 249million Pula, aims to upgrade traffic signals, construct a control centre, and install traffic violation cameras among others.
